About Dennis van Overbeeke: founder.

My goal is to connect people. In the case of the 20x5 challenge, this means connecting people who can afford it with people who miss it.

This is not about poverty or people who want to play benefactor. I am convinced that if you are willing to give someone something sincerely, you will become richer and that is not about money.

Background:

I trained as a social worker and have worked in youth care for about 10 years and have supervised several hundred family systems. I have experienced firsthand what the consequences can be if something goes wrong.

Heart for someone else:

Since 2012 I have continued full-time as a photographer, but I still have a passion for healthcare. In my current role as an entrepreneur, I try to bring the best of those two worlds together and so in November 2019 the idea arose to create a useful Christmas gift with entrepreneurs from my network for 5 families who could use it.

Good luck

The responses we received that first year were heart-warming, moving and, above all, left us wanting more.

In 2020 we rolled it out in Zeeland and were able to delight 22 families with a nicely filled package.

For 2021, we have set the target on the horizon to help 1,000 families and we will roll out the idea nationally.

By sharing knowledge and joining forces we can make it happen! For us, thinking outside the box becomes thinking inside the box!

Connecting people is a fun activity because you notice that when you appeal to people in their strengths or expertise, the result is often more than the sum of the parts.

Share consciously!

Consciously doing something for someone else gives a lot of positive energy.

As a human being, I always try to see the positive in things that happen. Sometimes not always easy, but educational and often grateful to reflect on what went well.

Giving someone a helping hand or a simple smile brings a little positivity back into the world.

I didn't have to think long about the question of whether I wanted to use my knowledge as a financial advisor for the new Stichting 20x5 challenge.

A beautiful initiative in which a combination of solidarity, gratitude, conscious attention, positivity and love is spread. This is being spread among people who could use it as well. That puts a smile on my face and I like to support it.

After Dennis asked me to help set up the 20x5 Challenge Foundation, I did not need much time to respond positively. The experience with this initiative in 2019 and 2020 and then hearing the heart-warming reactions from the recipients gives you the strength to do so. support and further promote.

If you have little or nothing, you can be satisfied with little and then giving this target group a wonderful Christmas is perhaps the best thing to contribute to at the end of the year. Hearing how happy a bar of soap, a new toothbrush and so on can make someone. It's really about the everyday things that hit even harder if you can't purchase them. Children who grow up knowing that as a rule it is not possible to give something extra, that makes me happy.

Background: Raised with the motto you are part of this society, but that also means that you have an obligation to that same society.

Also when running my own landscaping company, I have always looked at people's possibilities for more than 40 years. For me this means offering people an opportunity. People who are distanced from the labor market also deserve a chance at meaningful daytime activities and generating some income of their own.

When Dennis told me about the 20x5 challenge foundation, I immediately understood why he thought of me when composing the board. Connecting people so that they can do something good for someone else really appeals to me.

In my work as a juvenile law lawyer - where I often encountered Dennis as a youth care worker - and as a juvenile judge, I have noticed that you can really make a difference if you act with conviction and with your heart in the right place in the interest of a greater goal.

I think the seemingly simple idea of having a number of people make a useful Christmas gift for families who can really use it is great and I sincerely hope that a large group of enthusiastic people will participate every year!
